If you want a great drill to do before your next workout, then look no further! This is great to do before a heavy lifting day with your favorite barbell OR before you sneak in a “7-minute abs” session. Awaken all those trunk muscles by grabbing a physioball and hopping on all-fours.
While maintaining a neutral spine, tighten your deep tummy muscles, drive back into the ball, and lift one arm up in the air (thumb pointed upwards). Hold for 3 seconds and repeat with the other arm. You should feel an increased tension through your entire trunk. Understand that doing 10 of these cycles will help you recruit a maximal amount of muscle tension to either support you in your lifting or function for you in your workout.
