How does this work?
Choose your goal! Whether it’s 800meters, one mile, 5k, 10k, 10 mile, half marathon, or a full, we will help you. Pick your specific race, or just a personal goal without a particular date attached. Contact us with your ideas of what distance and goals you have in mind. We will you your program via TrainingPeaks. There will be group runs organized in the area, or you can run on your own if it fits your schedule better. You will have to report your work outs and times back to your coach weekly through TrainingPeaks, and they will evaluate your progress and make modifications as needed.
You might ask why we don’t just offer and charge for an 8 week 5k program. There many of these group programs in the area that may work for some people. Not everyone will respond well to an 8 week speed work program, especially if they are a beginner runner. Base mileage needs to be built up before beginning to work on any speed, track, or interval work. By submitting our intake form, we will be able to determine the length your program needs to be to reach your specific goals. It may be 8 weeks, it may be 16 weeks. We will be able to let you know what type of base mileage you will need before diving deeper into a distance specific program. You can choose to train with us to build up the base mileage with our coaching, or even try to reach our recommendations on your own before beginning the end phases of the coaching programs.
How are we different?
We are different in a few great and unique ways.
The program created is created for you only. You will need to fill out a lengthy form to provide us with all the information we need to make your goals attainable. We understand the time constraints on a lot of our athletes, especially those with children or those in school, and we will make a schedule that works for you. Within your running program, you will be given specific work outs with goals for each session.
We are well-educated in injury management and prevention. For this reason, we will hopefully not see any injuries during your training program. However, should something arise, it can be addressed immediately and modifications can be made to your program.
Many of our athletes are local, but can work with clients anywhere in the world. The local runners will have the benefit of being able to meet us for organized training runs. We have a regular meeting spot with a local community group on Tuesdays and Sundays in Gaithersburg and will also be listing any of our coaches’ invitational runs at various locations.
Cross training will be addressed. If you want to keep up another sport or would like some advice on other activities to compliment the program, we can help you with that. We will also be giving all of our athletes a simple core and stretching program to follow their workouts.
We charge on a weekly basis for two reasons. One is because everyone’s program may be a different length. And the other reason is because we understand that injuries may happen, or things may come up that may interfere with your goals that may cause your running program to be postponed. If you stop at any time with our program, you can restart again within six months and not pay the initial programming fee again.
What else do we offer with our program?
Running Form Workshops/Mechanics Training: We highly recommend addressing mechanics if you are a beginner, have taken a break from running, or have had a history of injuries. We also recommend this, in general, to all those signing up. This would give us a better idea on what to compliment your program with and additional things you may need to work on to be sure to meet your goals. Our Running Form Workshops are available approximately every six weeks in either our Bethesda or Germantown clinic location. A one-on-one session can be set up as well that includes video analysis. Please visit our menu above in Runner Services for these sessions and workshops. We offer a $10 discount on our Form Workshop and a $30 discount on the One-on-One Session if you are signed up for the coaching program.
